Facility History & Details

In the summer of 2018, Fetching Tails celebrated the opening of our first facility, the Hut: an 1,800 square-foot temporary home for newly rescued dogs while they awaited placement in a foster home. As a rental, we were limited with how much we could do in the space, but made it a welcoming, happy home for hundreds of dogs over the past six years. We had a fun indoor playpark and 5 cage-free suites so each dog had their own space to sleep and eat. Although we made it work for us, the facility lacked adequate space for our supplies and we dreamed of having more play space for our pups to enjoy.

 

Over the past five years, our board of directors has viewed more than two dozen potential facilities and we finally found our dream space in February 2024! Our friends at South Paw Pet Grooming (who have helped our rescue with fresh haircuts for our dogs since our inception) mentioned that they were moving and their previous space would be available to buy. Their facility was perfect for us and already set up in so many ways that we need: 13 cage-free suites for housing newly rescued dogs, three indoor and three outdoor play spaces, a grooming/bathing room, laundry room, kitchen, and tons of space for storing our food and event supplies! We finalized the purchase in April 2024 - and have our permanent home to welcome the next generation of Fetching dogs!

 

We are so thankful to have a facility that fits so many of our needs compared to starting from scratch in an empty building, but we have more improvements to make in order to make the facility truly our own. We need to install a sprinkler system for fire safety, a new roof, waterproof flooring in the laundry and grooming rooms, and new ceiling tiles. Please help us make our new facility the welcoming, comfortable, and safe temporary home for dogs that we have dreamed about since launching our rescue in 2015!
